Carcinoid tumors are uncommon tumors of the gastrointestinal tract that can occur anywhere from the stomach to the rectum. These tumors are most frequently found in the appendix, but are increasingly recognized in the small intestine.

Treatment
Carcinoid tumors are removed surgically. Surgical options depend on the location of the tumor, so treatment must be customized for each patient. Carcinoid tumors can often be removed laparoscopically. You and your surgeon will decide on the best treatment plan for you.
