Surgical Oncology

Welcome

Weill Cornell Surgical Oncology has a primary focus on gastrointestinal cancer, which includes cancer of the pancreas, liver, biliary tract, stomach, small bowel, colon, rectum and stromal tumors. Our expertise also extends to sarcomas (soft tissue cancers), endocrine cancer, and melanoma – the most serious form of skin cancer. Our surgeons draw on the expertise and resources of a wide range of surgical and non-surgical specialties, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, gastroenterologists, as well as support staff, including social workers, nutritionists, and geneticists. This integrated network of health professionals is key to providing patients with seamless comprehensive care.

In addition to traditional open surgery, our surgical team also employs the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment procedures. Endoscopic ultrasound and minimally invasive laparoscopy – as appropriate to the patient's particular needs – are used to reduce the side effects of surgical procedures, to keep hospital stays to a minimum, and to improve overall outcomes.

Our practice is located at multiple sites, including the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health, the Stich Building and the Center for Digestive Diseases.
