The investigative efforts from the Department of Surgery have yielded major contributions to the advancement of surgical science. National recognition has been acknowledged in the areas of cytokine research, surgical oncology, inflammatory and neuro-humoral endocrine response to injury, wound healing, and transplantation immunology.
